Here's a list with brief descriptions of some of the groups Alan works with: Outlandish with Art Lande and Paul McCandless Featuring the compositions and performance concepts of Art and Paul. This group did a series of gigs and clinics throughout the Bay Area in 2003 and has a CD entitled "Shapeshifter" recorded at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA. for Synergy Music. Dave Eshelman's Jazz Garden Big Band Featuring the compositions and arrangements of Cal State Hayward teacher Dave Eshelman. This dynamic big band is comprised of some of the Bay Area's most talented and busy musicians, including the alumnae of The Buddy Rich and Maynard Fergusson Big Bands. Ray Brown's Great Big Band Featuring the compositions and arrangements of Stan Kenton arranger Ray Brown, one of the most prolific big band writers around today. This band features the alumnae of The Buddy Rich and Stan Kenton Big Bands The Andre Bush Group Featuring the highly developed, cutting edge modern jazz compositions of guitarist Andre Bush. This group which features Art Lande on piano and Bruce Williamson on multi-reeds, has just completed their latest CD entitled "Start from Silence". Kriya Featuring the compositions of Michael Smolens. This three horn septet performs the tightly arranged originals of one of the Bay Area's most talented composers. Alan is featured prominently as a soloist in this modern world- jazz project. The Sheldon Brown Group Featuring the compositions of Omar Sosa alumnus, Sheldon Brown. Multi-instrumentalist Brown writes some of the most intense music Alan has played. This quintet navigates their way through Sheldon's Funk-European-Odd Time-Latin mix with energy and style. |
