A Brief Bio:
Alan has performed and/or recorded with the following musicians:
Dizzy Gillespie, Eddie Harris, Paul McCandless, Art Lande, Stuart Hamm, Kai Eckhardt, Billy Childs, Kenny Werner, Bob Sheppard,
Kit Walker, Tom Coster, Rebecca Parris, Betty Buckley, John Handy, Joyce Cooling, Smith Dobson, Victor Mendoza and many more

He taught at Berklee Collge of Music from 1986 to 1993
He has performed at: The Monterey Jazz Festival with Billy Childs and Bob Sheppard, Vancouver International Jazz Festival with Mike Zilber, Barbados International Jazz Festival with Wild Mango, JVC Jazz Festival with Rebecca Parris, Bumber Shoot Festival with Kai Eckhardt and Kit Walker

He has given clinics and workshops at festivals, colleges and music stores throughout
North America. He currently teaches at The Jazzschool in Berkeley, California.
Through his company, Bay Area Percussion Services, he teaches an after school
percussion class called "Rhythm Rocks!" in schools in the East Bay.

Fall 2007

Hi Folks,

Lot going on this Fall including recording a jazz suite based on "The Nutcracker Suite" with Brit pianist Terry Disley; the release of Michael O'Neill's latest CD w/ singer Kenny Washington entitled "Still Dancing", look for CD release party soon; lots-o-gigs with bassist/composer Fred Randolph's Quintet all around the Bay Area; teaching at Stanford's Jazz Program; turning down Cirque Du Soleil's upcoming Tokyo show (ouch!); upcoming gigs with singer Jackie Ryan at the grand opening of the newly renovated Larkspur Theatre; and some upcoming work with singer/actress Betty Buckley in New Mexico.
