Drum Chart Supplement (sher Music)
This book was published in 2019 by Sher Music to help the student jazz band drummer musically perform the charts in the popular “Real Easy Book Vol 1” 3-horn series.
Internalization
In 2005, urged on my student, the late Ben Randall, I published “Internalization-a non-reading-intensive approach to the jazz drumming language”
Ben’s generosity, along with the expertise he and Jerome Draper provided, made the production of the book possible. I’ve used this book and it’s pedagogical approach in my teaching practice ever since. I continue to have great success with this approach with students of all levels and ages.
HOW DOES THIS BOOK WORK?
By combining an OSTINATO with a pair of A/B ELEMENTS, and then playing them in an A/B SEQUENCE, you can develop and internalize a jazz drumming language quickly.
